Start of bunkering operations

Starting from 1st September 2019, operations for the direct sale of naval fuels (bunkering) began at specific dedicated areas of the ports of Sarroch and Cagliari. The Saras Group offers the complete range of marine fuels, in addition to MDO (marine diesel oil) and traditional fuels, the new ecological fuel oil with a very low sulfur content in line with the new European regulations:

  • HSFO 380cSt RMG380 3.5%S;
  • VLSFO 380cSt RMG380 0.5%S;
  • LS MGO DMA 0.1%S.

As part of the Saras Group's principles of creating sustainable value, all products are in line with the latest ISO 8217: 2017 standards, come directly from the Sarlux refinery and are subjected to rigorous quality controls as part of the provisions of the quality management system adopted by Saras and certified according to the ISO 9001 standard.

Sarlux, the Group's refinery, is located in a strategic position in the south of Sardinia in the center of the Mediterranean Sea (GPS lat.39 ° 03 ', 8 north, long.009 ° 06', 1 east) on the main route Suez / Gibraltar and is able to meet the demand of several ships transiting through the Mediterranean Sea.

The bunkering service uses the most efficient and innovative techniques in the sector, it is configured to meet the needs of ships arriving and departing from the aforementioned ports as well as to offer additional refueling possibilities to the numerous ships passing along the Strait of Sicily and the Tyrrhenian.

The commercial activity is carried out by Saras Trading SA, a company based in Geneva entirely controlled by Saras, after almost a year and a half of activity, the Saras Trading bunkering desk supplied about 500 kt of fuel to more than 1300 ships and hundreds of customers 24/7.

The “M / T Atlantic”, operational from 1st September 2019 and the "M / T CPTN KOSTAS", added to the fleet from September 2020 to provide customers with greater flexibility.

Refueling is carried out with state-of-the-art ships equipped with all the most advanced safety equipment and with a specially trained crew, in order to offer maximum guarantees to operate in full compliance with safety for people and the environment.
